Athletic awards
POMFRET --- The Pomfret School winter athletic honors were recently announced:
Diego Briones of Pomfret, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011-12 boys' varsity squash team. Diego is a member of the Class of 2012. Alex Diaz of Pomfret Center, was named the Most Improved Player of the 2011-12 boys' varsity squash team. Alex is a member of the Class of 2012. Dan Gagnon of Pomfret Center, was recognized as the boys' varsity basketball captain during the 2011-12 season. In addition, Dan was awarded the R. Duane Daentl Trophy, which is given "To the most valuable player in the boys' program." He is a member of the Class of 2012. RJ LaBeef of Pomfret, completed an impressive wrestling career at Pomfret this season. A two-time National Prep All-American, RJ was also a New England Champion and recorded an 81 -1 record in dual meets in his four seasons as a Griffin. RJ also served as team captain during the 2011-12 season. RJ is a member of the Class of 2012.
