Robotics pg 7 4-12-12



WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Academy Robotics Team took second place in its first state event and made it into the finals. They won in every category during second competition. They placed 2nd in the state out of 35 teams. According to team adviser Peter Sumner, many of the teams have been competing for years and getting to the finals is quite an accomplishment.
The team has only had their robotics equipment for 3 months and have been preparing for competition daily. The team received a trophy and it is on display in the engineering lab.
During the Technology Student Association’s State Competition March 31, Academy students took home awards in every event they participated in. The team presented excellent character and sportsmanship assisting teams from other schools to succeed.  Funding for this program was made possible through a grant awarded by Woodstock Academy’s Foundation. 
Academy winners included: Vex Robotics 2nd place-David Paquette and Michael Stuba; Engineering 3D CAD 2nd Place- Michael Paquette; Engineering 3D CAD 3rd Place- David Paquette; Jesse Bober and Oliver Kelly 1st Place- Digital Video Production; John Allegretti and crew 2nd Place- Digital Video Production; Jesse Bober and Oliver Kelly 1st Place-Problem Solving; Minjong Yoon 2nd Place-Problem Solving; Minjong Yoon 1st Place-Flight Endurance.
