Winners
Twenty-five members of the Putnam High School Symphonic Band traveled to Virginia Beach, Vir., to compete in the “Festivals of Music” competition and placed first in their division. They were the only band to receive a “Superior” rating, and receive the “Ravelli Concert Band Award” for receiving the highest score. The band is under the direction of Kristen Motola. One judge said: “Size doesn’t matter when it came to the quality of music from a small group.” Motola said, “Our goal is to perform to the best of our ability and to reach our audience. But it sure feels good to win!”
