POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society at Pomfret will host "Afternoon Bird Walk" at 5 p.m. starting from the new Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road. $5 for members; $10 for nonmembers.  928-4948.

Exhibit
POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon Society at Pomfret will host an exhibit of paintings by Amy Bartlett Wright at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road through June 15.  Percentage of sales benefits the center.

Art Guild
POMFRET --- The Northeastern Connecticut Art Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Audubon Center on Day Road. Demonstrator will be Sean Farrell, an artist who works in oils in the Old Masters Style. All welcome.

 Rummage Sale
WOODSTOCK --- The Women’s Fellowship of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ of Woodstock on Rt. 169 will sponsor a Spring Rummage & White Elephant Sale from 2 to 5 p.m. May 18 and from 9 a.m. to noon May 19. Bake sale Friday afternoon. 923-2887.

Relay For Life
WOODSTOCK --- The annual Relay For Life American Cancer Society fund-raiser will be held May 19 and 20 at the Woodstock Fairgrounds.

Books, Plants
N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Emanuel Lutheran Church on Main Street will hold a book, plant and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Donations accepted from noon to 7 p.m. May 17.

Auditions
PUTNAM --- The Bradley Playhouse will hold auditions for "The Sound of Music" from 10 a.m. to noon, May 19 (children, Liesel & Rolf only), from 1 to 4 p.m. May 19 (adults) and from 6 to 9 p.m. May 21 (adults) at the theater. Performance starts July 27. Bring 16 bars of music from any Rogers and Hammerstein show. 928-7887.

CHEPACHET --- The third Music at the Meeting House event this spring will feature The Generations, an old-fashioned barbershop quartet at 2:30 p.m. at the Chepachet Free will Baptist Church. Freewill donations welcome. Refreshments follow.

WOODSTOCK --- The First congregational Church of Woodstock on Rt. 169 will present a soul-rocking Gospel Mass by Robert Ray and Ted Bradley will conduct an ecumenical choir with Bishop John Selders Jr. at the piano. Free will offering at the door. 928-7405.

Memorial Day
PUTNAM --- The Memorial Day parade steps off from the Grove Street area at 10 a.m. and goes to Rotary Park where there will be a Memorial Day Program and a free picnic follows. Before the parade, a rededication of the Women’s Relief Corp Monument on Grove Street. Older and disabled veterans who cannot march are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the Highway garage on Church Street so they can ride

Memorial Day
EASTFORD --- The annual Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Eastford Elementary School. A Memorial Day program will follow the parade at the Ivy Glenn Memorial. Brief ceremonies will precede the parade starting at 8:30 a.m. at the General Lyon Cemetery and 9 a.m. at the Grove Cemetery.

Memorial Day
WOODSTOCK --- After ceremonies at the various cemeteries, the Memorial Day parade begins assemble at 11 a.m. at the Inn at Woodstock Hill/Woodstock Orchard. The parade marches to the Woodstock Hill Common and the Memorial Day Program will begin there at 11:45 a.m.
