The Open Space bill, cosponsored by State Representative Mike Alberts (R – Woodstock), was passed last week. The bill will properly identify lands held by state agencies and water companies that are appropriate for preservation and conservation. This bill also makes recommendations for the establishment of a system to accurately keep track of lands
In 1997, Connecticut’s General Assembly set a goal to have 21 percent of its land to be set aside for public use and conservation, and according to Alberts, this legislation will help the state reach its target number.
