PUTNAM --- While celebrating a successful Relay For Life held in May, Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society are planning to go to the dogs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds. Begun a few years ago with an idea for canines to bring their owners to a special event, ‘Bark For Life’ was held at Brooklyn Fairgrounds with the cooperation of the Windham County Agricultural Society. This event is another way to fight cancer, bringing four-legged participants into the fray. Although owners are required to attend, this day belongs to the dogs, small, medium, large, pure breeds and mixed breeds and anything in between.
The day's events include day of registration, Opening Ceremonies, Blessing of the dogs (and owners), contests, cut-a-thon (humans only), music, canine demonstrations, vendor shopping, entertainment, food and fun. Bark For Life is sponsored locally by Citizens National Bank. Preregistration until Sept. 13 is $10 for one dog and one owner. The fee is $15 for one dog and one owner from Sept. 13 to the 16th. Owners can get registration forms and additional information at www.cnbct.com.
