PUTNAM --- With the help of a subsidy from the new town budget, residents may now "Dial - A - Ride," according to Town Administrator Douglas M. Cutler.
The Northeast Connecticut Transit District's green buses already run routes in and through Putnam, but now elderly or disabled residents needing a ride may make appointments with the Transit District.
Eligibility applications are available on the transit district's website: NECTD.org. Seven-day per week service is offered.
After completing the application, the elderly or disabled must give the district 24 hours advanced notice by calling 860-774-3902.
It will cost $1 per trip. The town's 2012-13 fiscal year budget includes a $3,000 subsidy, Cutler said.
