GROTON --- Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has announced that 38 employees have recently been CPR/AED trained and certified, and in addition, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) have been installed in nine of 12 Charter Oak branches.
AEDs have been installed at 589 Hartford Pike in Dayville; 32 Chicago Ave. and 625 Long Hill Road in Groton; 3 Boston Post Road in Waterford; 20 Liberty St. in Pawcatuck; 335 Main St. in Niantic; One Connecticut Ave. in Norwich; 893 Main St. in Willimantic; and 601 Norwich New London Tnpk. in Montville.
According to the American Heart Association, a victim’s chance of survival drops by 7 to 10 percent for every minute a normal heartbeat isn’t restored.
They are in the branch lobbies, where they can easily be accessed. AEDs can be used by anybody in an emergency situation.
