Stasia Dudek

PUTNAM — Stasia Mary (Krawiec) Dudek, 86, of Putnam died March 17, 2014, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Rhode Island.  She was the wife of the late Walter Dudek Sr. He died in 1980. 

She was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Thompson, daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Gwizdala) Krawiec.

She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Polish Church in Webster. Stasia was in the Ladies Auxiliary for the VFW and the American Legion in N. Grosvenordale. She worked for Hales Manufacturing as a spinner for more than 25 years. She always enjoyed her yard work and her Sunday bingo. 

She leaves her daughter Leona Hendrickson (Gene) of Woodstock; daughter-in-law Diane Dudek of N. Grosvenordale; a daughter Patricia Chrabazcz (Edward) of Putnam; a son Richard Ballard of Brooklyn; grandchildren Jennifer Dudek, Aaron Archambault, Joseph Archambault, Edward Chrabazcz Jr., James Chrabazcz, David Chrabazcz, Heidi Ballard, David Ballard; great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Sergel of Dudley, Peter Krawiec of Thompson. She was predeceased by her son Walter Dudek Jr.; siblings John Krawiec, Stanley Krawiec, Joseph Krawiec, Thomas Krawiec, Michael Krawiec, Anthony Krawiec, Sophie Groszswicz, Nellie Pfeiffer and a special companion Theodore Billings.

The Funeral was  March 22 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, with burial later in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Dudley. Donations: Church of the Good Shepherd, PO Box 747, Woodstock, CT 06281. 

 

Gizella St. King

EASTFORD — Gizella (Rosyar) St. King, 96, of Westford Road, died, March 19, 2014, at home. She was born Jan. 16, 1918, at home in Eastford, daughter of the late Gustav and Mary (Svantner) Rosyar. She was a lifelong resident of Eastford. 

Gizella was the wife of Joseph K. St. King. He died Jan. 3, 2001. They were married in the Eastford Congregational Church and enjoyed 50 years together.

She leaves three daughters Susan S. Klare of Eastford, her caregiver for many years; her  twins Karoly St. King of Woodstock, and Mrs. Christine Quintal of E. Woodstock; three grandchildren Dagmar S. Noll, Whitney W. Klare and Jordan J. Quintal.

Kathy Kimball

DANIELSON — Kathy L. Kimball, 47, of Danielson, died March 19, 2014, at Regency Heights Nursing Home in Danielson, after an eight-year battle with cancer. 

She was born July 8, 1966, in Putnam, daughter of Luranelle (Baxter) and the late Walter E. Kimball.

Kathy worked for the Killingly School System for 18 plus years as a Special Education Assistant. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Kathy won a state award for excellence in mathematics. She was a member of a cancer support group and a therapeutic group both of Manchester.

She leaves her mother Luranelle Kimball of Dayville; three sons Justin Chase of Danielson, Gideon Chase of Danielson and Cody Ogozalec of Danielson; sister Ruth Kimball of Dayville; her brother Robert Kimball of Dayville; three nephews and several cousins.

Joyce Lefebvre

PUTNAM — Joyce Lefebvre, 72, of Putnam died March 18, 2014, at Regency Heights in Danielson. She wa the wife of Robert J. Lefebvre. 

She was born on July 22, 1941, in Kansas City, Mo., daughter of the late Charles and Mable Burgess.

Joyce was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. She worked for American Optical in Putnam and later she operated her own day care.

She leaves her husband Robert of Putnam; her daughter Lisa Hamblin (John) of Putnam; grandchildren Joey Hamblin (Natasha) of Putnam, Joshua Hamblin (Joanna) of Brooklyn, great-grandchildren Tatiana and Tristan Hamblin of Putnam.

Dorothy E. Bergeron

N. GROSVENORDALE — Dorothy E. (LaBonte) Bergeron, 92, of Main St. “Carriage Square”, March 16, 2014, in Day Kimball Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Ernest Bergeron, Sr..  Born in 1921 in Uxbridge, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna (Boehnki) LaBonte.

Mrs. Bergeron worked as a bobbin winder at the former Belding Heminway Textile Mill in Putnam 

Mrs. Bergeron enjoyed reading, knitting hats and booties for the premature babies at Day Kimball Hospital, and volunteering at TEEG, the Thompson Library, and St. Joseph Church in N. Grosvenordale. 

She leaves three sons: Ernest Bergeron Jr. of Clayton, N.C., Stephen Bergeron of Killingly, and Keith Bergeron of Clayton;  a daughter Virginia “Ginger: Thurlow (Harry) of Burgaw, N.C.; a brother Dr. Roger LaBonte of Memphis; three sisters Helen Comtois of Harrisville, Phyllis LaBonte and Nancy McDonald,  both of Southbridge; grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Paul Matthew Bergeron, a daughter June Ann Haney; three brothers Richard, William, and Eugene LaBonte, and a sister Alice Arsenault.

The Graveside Service was March 21  in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Valade Funeral Home, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.

 

Ronald Carpenter

THOMPSON — Ronald D. Carpenter, 70, of Thompson, died March 14, 2014, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Webster. He was born on May 23, 1943, in East Lyme, son of the late Harold and Lela (Jones) Carpenter. 

Ronald worked for Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam before he went to work for Linemaster Switch where he worked as a supervisor for 38 years. He was a very patriotic and generous man. He loved to play pitch and cribbage. Ronald enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.

He leaves his daughters Rebecca Benoit, Sarah Brown, Rachel Carpenter, Mary Poulin; grandchildren David, Joshua, Jillian, Emma, Timothy; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Helen Gaudreau

POMFRET CENTER —  Helen (Toper) Gaudreau, 87, died March 19, 2014, in Westview Healthcare.  She was the wife of the late Richard Gaudreau.  Born in 1926 in Rogers, she was the daughter of the late John and Viola Toper.

Mrs. Gaudreau worked in various departments at Rogers Corp. for more than 48 years retiring in 2003.  

She enjoyed gardening, reading, swimming in her pool, traveling throughout Europe, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and the U.S, the UConn Husky girls’ basketball, cooking (especially homemade cheesecake,) crossword puzzles and hosting family affairs especially 4th of July picnics.  

She liked to read about Holistic Medicine before it was fashionable.  

She leaves her sons, Richard Gaudreau (Debbie) of Dayville, and Dr. David Gaudreau  (Billie Jean) of Putnam; daughters, Natalie Morey (Jerry) of Woodstock, and Renee Angelini (Julius) of Westbrook; brothers, John Toper of Attawaugan, and Richard Toper of Brooklyn; sister Irene Koistinen of Windsor Locks; and her grandchildren, Heather Robinson of Austin, Texas, Adam Robinson of Mexico, Kaitlyn and Tyler Gaudreau of Putnam, Bryant Gaudreau of Omaha, Scott Gaudreau of Dayville, and Ethan Angelini of Westbrook.  She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Donna Robinson who died in 1997.

The Mass of Christian Burial was  March 22 in St. Joseph Church, Dayville, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.

Leonard Lavallee

THOMPSON —  Leonard Lavallee, 63, of Jensen Dr., died March 16, 2014, at home, after a long battle with lung cancer.  He is the  husband of Suzanne (Dalbec) Lavallee.  Born in 1951 in Webster,  was the son of the late Henry and Louise (Resner) Lavallee.

Mr. Lavallee worked as a carpenter for Local 107 and later for the Gates Auto Group.

Mr. Lavallee enjoyed photography, boating, and building things. 

He leaves his wife and a brother Alan Lavallee of Holly Hill, Fla.

David S. Leandro

WAUREGAN — David S. Leandro, 80, of Wauregan died March 14, 2014, at the W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was the husband of Lucilia (Aguiar) Leandro. They were married April 8, 1957. 

He was born March 1, 1934 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, son of the late Jose and Maria (Fernandes) Leandro.

David was a truck driver in Azores before immigrating to Canada in 1964. He was a gold miner in Red Lake, Ontario, until he moved to Wauregan in 1968, where he has been a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church. David was a machine operator for Anchor Glass Container in Killingly. 

He loved gardening and tending to his grape vines. David was an avid bird watcher and was a member of Grapo Amigos da Terceira, Inc. for the past 10 years. David was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He leaves his wife Lucilia; his children Manuel Leandro (Vickie)  of Jacksonville, Fla., Maria Ponciano (Jose) of Brooklyn, Robert Leandro (Julie) of Moosup; his sister Conceicao Rosa of Pawtucket, R.I.; his brother Serafim Leandro of N. Providence; grandchildren Derek Ponciano, Jessica Leandro, Kali Leandro, Amanda Ponciano, Nadia Ponciano, Paige Leandro, Erika Malito, Marina Medeiros of Azores. He was predeceased by his brothers Manuel, John, Jose, Domingos and his sister Maria de Carmo. D. ‘Dottie’ L. Norman

PUTNAM —  Dorothy “Dottie” L. Norman, 78, of Five Mile River Rd., died March 15, 2014, in Matulaitis Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in 1936 in Suffield, she was the daughter of the late Cecile and Laura (Day) Norman.

Dottie worked for many years at the Everlasting Designs in Vernon.

Dottie loved spending time with her family, and particularly loved visiting her niece Kathie DeRoche in Concord, Mass.. Dottie spent the last seven years of her life in Putnam living with the Mancini family. Dottie enjoyed going to Senior Program, working on craft projects, and adding to her many collections. She loved Christmas and always looked forward to the Norman Family party.

She leaves a brother Merton Norman of North Branford and several loving nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Marion and her brothers Richard, Donald, and Carl. The family will hold a graveside service in early May at Alderbrook Cemetery in Guilford. Robert J. Bonneville,

WWII vet

DANIELSON — Robert J. Bonneville, 89, of Danielson, died March 17, 2014, at Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam.

Bob was born on June 6, 1924, at Day Kimball Hospital, to Avellino A. and Marie Antoinette (DesAutels) Bonneville of Danielson.  He was a graduate of Killingly High School and served with distinction in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, participating in 52 combat missions over Burma and China as a flight engineer and top turret machine gunner on B25H bombers.  His medals included the Distinguished Flying Cross, given for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in flight, the Asia Pacific Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, and the Air Medal for meritorious achievement in aerial flight.  He was promoted to the rank of sergeant and received an honorable discharge in 1945. 

Bob’s passion in life was horticulture.  With Martha, he started Colonial Nursery in 1955, which later became Colonial Landscape and Paving, and finally Colonial Paving.  

He leaves his wife of almost 68 years, Martha (Kacerik); daughter, Cynthia Koziak (Ed) of Webster; son David of Orinda, Calif., and his daughter-in-law, Leslie Winter; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Stephen and a daughter-in-law, Nancy.
