PUTNAM --- Downtown Putnam was a beehive to fire and of ice Feb. 8. The 10th annual Fire & Ice extravaganza did not disappoint, getting bigger and better every year.
Thousands of people from all over New England attended, admiring the carved ice blocks and taking part in "fire" and "ice" events.
The Fire & Ice is largest single block ice block competition in New England.
In the amateur ice block carving contest, the winners included (from first to third):
Koala --- Matulaitis Rehab --- Marie Agresta
Crow --- Jeff Rizer --- Lisa Kretehman
Cupcakes --- Reneeā€™s Working Girl --- Rena Mason
The group winners included:
Castle Greyskull --- Wonderland Comics  --- Jonathan Conway, Ernie Delia
Sneaker --- Putnam Science Academy --- PSA kids
Snoopy --- Performance Improvements  --- Deery Family
In the professional category, the winners included:
Buddha --- Block 134, Sawmill ---- Arrik Kim
Millennium alcon --- Longmeadow Automotive --- Silvino Quengo
Bear and Beer --- Bear Hands Brewery --- Josh Deojay
The cake competition winners were also announced.
The winner of the Noviee category was Carol Bell.
The winner of the Professional category was KatherineCollins .
Collins was also the People's Choice winner.
