Alice M., Deloge
PUTNAM — Alice M. Deloge, 81, of Woodstock Avenue, died March 2, 2013, at home. She was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Moosup, daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Rock) Lariviere.
She worked for over 30 years at the former Hale Manufacturing Company in Central Village, Ballouville and Putnam.
She had made her home in Putnam most of her life. She was an avid Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball fan and enjoyed attending games at the Mohegan Sun Arena, and also a great fan of the UConn women’s basketball program.
She leaves her children Brenda Kingsley of Putnam, MaryJane Grimshaw of Danielson, Norman J. Deloge (Ronda) of Hope Mills, N.C.; siblings Theresa Tatro of Wauregan, Mary Plante of Putnam, Eugene Lariviere of Putnam; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Rita, Margaret, Noella, Agnes, Lucille, Rose, Cecelia, and Joseph.

Daniel A. Otero,
father of 2
PUTNAM — Daniel A. Otero, 67, of Hurlbut Street, died Feb. 25, 2013, in UMass Hospital University Campus, Worcester. Born in 1945 in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Philip and Rose (Carsioni) Otero.
Mr. Otero worked in the propane gas industry for 35 years.  He was a past president and longtime member of the Putnam Lions Club.  He enjoyed photography and working with computers.
He leaves his daughter, Stacey Moore of Brooklyn; son Scott Otero of Brooklyn; brother, Phillip Otero of Bonita Springs, Fla.; sister, Adrienne Malone of Hazlet, N.J.; granddaughter, Alyssa Moore of Brooklyn; his fiancé, Kathy Bleau of Putnam.

Irene E. Provost
DAYVILLE — Irene E. Provost, 85, of Attawaugan, died Feb. 24, 2013, at Westview Health Care Center. Wife of the late Laurent Provost, they were married on Sept. 27, 1947, and enjoyed 62 years together until his passing in 2009. Irene was born April 22, 1927, in Putnam, daughter of the late Delphonse and Emily Bousquet.
Irene was a communicant of St. Anne Church in Ballouville. She was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. Irene was co-proprietor of Provost Market in Attawaugan, with her husband Laurent. She then worked at the Westview Health Care Center as a cook for over 20 years, always keeping the residents and staff content with her ‘treats’ until her retirement. She enjoyed all arts and crafts including painting, knitting, crocheting and going fishing with Larry. She leaves a daughter, Maryann Mercier and Christopher Bekris of Plainfield; four sons: Alan Provost (Patricia) of W. Haven,  Denis Provost (Jeanne) of Putnam, Mark Provost (Jane) of Thompson, Paul Provost (Diane) of Norwich; grandchildren Justin, Christopher, Benjamin, Samantha, Megan, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Jessica, Daniel, Zackary, Amanda, and Kaitlyn, a great-granddaughter Mia Emily-Joyce, a sister: Alice LeBlanc of Vermont; two brothers: Richard Bousquet of Leicester, Mass., Delphis Bousquet (Shirley) of Enfield. She was predeceased by her sister Yvonne McNally.

David Packard,

WOODSTOCK — David Packard, 61, of West Quasset Road died unexpectedly Feb. 22, 2013, in Winter Haven, Fla. He was the husband of Kathleen (Gaffney) Packard.
He was born Jan. 29, 1952, in Shrewsbury, Mass., son of the late Henry and Norma (Lombardi) Packard.   
David was a machinist. He was the owner and president of David Packard Company in Oxford, and of Machining Technologies of Webster. David had a passion for barefoot waterskiing and died doing what he loved, skiing at the World Barefoot Center in Winter Haven. He was also an accomplished pilot and loved to fly.
In addition to his wife Kathleen of Woodstock, he leaves three stepsons Anthony Dipietro (Maria) of Leominster, Mass., Jason Dipietro of Shrewsbury, and Matthew Dipietro of Oxford; four grandsons: Tyler (age 9), Dylan (6), Anthony (3), and Vincent (1); two brothers John Packard (Lorna) of Charlton, Richard Packard (Sandra) of Rhode Island; two sisters Claire Garabedian (Wayne) of Grafton, Mass., Susan Crawford (Stanley) of Brooklyn.

Rene B. Santerre,
Korean war vet
N. GROSVENORDALE — Rene B. Santerre, 82, of Riverside Drive, died Feb. 27, 2013, at home.  He was the husband of Mary V. (Rogers) Santerre.  Born in 1930 in N. Grosvenordale, he was the son of the late Eugene and Alberta (Grenier) Santerre.
Mr. Santerre was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Ellis Tech.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Santerre was a self-employed mason and owned D & R Masonry & Tire in N. Grosvenordale.  He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR at the Thompson Speedway.  He liked to play both cards and bocce. He was a member of Union St. Jean Baptist, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, and served as the treasurer of the West Thompson Fire Department.  He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and sponsored many men and women championship softball teams.  Rene and his wife wintered in Florida for the over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Daniel Santerre (Nancy), and Roger Santerre (Denise), both of Thompson; four brothers Leon Santerre of N. Grosvenordale, Norbert “Metz” Santerre of Quinebaug, and Richard and Maurice Santerre, both of N. Grosvenordale; sister, Irene Harvanek of Webster; and four grandchildren, Pamela, Tracey, Alyson, and Andrew.  He was predeceased by grandson, Matthew Santerre; brother, Gerry Santerre and two sisters, Cecile Santerre and Theresa (Santerre) Auger.

Leslie Woodis
PUTNAM — Leslie P. Woodis, 97, of Putnam, died Feb. 28, 2013, at Day Kimball Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (Diamond) Woodis. They were married May 29, 1935. She died June 16, 2010.
He was born April 2, 1915, in Putnam, son of the late Elbert and Mabelle (Williams) Woodis.
Leslie worked in the maintenance department at the American Optical Company in Putnam for over 25 years. He made his home in Putnam all his life.
He leaves his  children: Wayne Woodis of King George, Va., David Woodis of Pascoag, Cynthia Curran of New York, N.Y., June Meadows of Mentor, Ohio; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Iva Woodis of Killingly, Pauline Woodis of Hamden; a brother-in-law John Woodfall of Amesbury, Mass.

Christopher Guari
BROOKLYN — Christopher Michael Guari, 47, of Brooklyn, died March 2, 2013, at home. He was born Feb. 21, 1966, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of Christine (Rutkowski) Guari of Brooklyn and the late Michael Guari.
He was married to Colleen (Burke) Guari on Oct. 22, 1994.
He is joined the Connecticut State Police in January of 1987, retiring on March 1, 2013. He served as a patrol trooper, duty sergeant, sergeant of the Eastern District Major Crime Squad, acting commanding officer of the State Fire Marshal Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, Arson Detection dog handler, was in charge of the State Police Security Detail for President Bush’s visit to the Coast Guard Academy Graduation Ceremony and was the first Resident Trooper of Brooklyn. He was the recipient of the Arnold Markle Distinguished Service Award 2011, Outstanding Service Award 2001 and received Unit Citations from EDMC and Troop E. He was a USAR team leader.
He was currently deputy chief and past Chief of the Mortlake Fire Company. He was a Certified Fire Investigator and was Investigator of the Year for 2003. Chris was a member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks, IAAI National CT Chapter, Litchfield County Fire Marshal Association, Windham County Fire Marshal Association, CT IAAI and coach for the Central Mass Invaders. He loved coaching his kids in football and softball and enjoyed boating, camping and fishing.
Besides his wife and his mother he leaves his children, Eric Bunning and fiancée Tashia Marineau, Hannah and Sydney Guari; grandchild Elexus Bunning; brothers: John Guari of Brooklyn, Kevin Guari (Sharon) of Buffalo; sister Noel Coraccio (Phil) of Brooklyn, Norine (Guari) Bushen (Bill) of Buffalo; father-in-law Jack Burke (Mary Jane); brother-in-law Michael Burke (Nichole); sister-in-law Kelley (Burke) Rochefort (Rocky). He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Elizabeth Burke.
