CorePlus Federal Credit Union will open two new locations this year. Full-service branches will be inside the two Walmart supercenter stores, in Putnam and in Brooklyn.
The Walmart store on School Street (Rt. 44) on Putnam is undergoing full refurbishment and transition into a Supercenter. The second location will be in the newly built Providence Pike (Rt. 6) Supercenter in Brooklyn, which is slated to open by late fall.
Both store locations will provide CorePlus Credit Union with an opportunity to offer a full range of deposit and lending services including “Loan Zone” consumer-based loans, credit cards, home equity and mortgage products in a high traffic retail environment. Each location will offer an onsite ATM and nationwide shared branching services for members of participating credit unions.

CorePlus Federal Credit Union, founded in 1936, currently has seven full service branches locally; Norwich, Taftville, Backus Hospital, Groton, East Lyme, Waterford, and Plainfield. In addition to these branch locations, CorePlus Federal Credit Union operates two “Loan Zone” consumer lending centers in Putnam and Norwich. Core Plus currently has over 21,000 members and $196 million in assets. Its services are geared toward the retail customer through checking and savings type offerings and consumer driven products such as car loans, student loans, credit card services, mortgages and home-equity loans.
