Heifer Meeting

Fun Runs
W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run starts on May 15 and runs through Sept. 18. The runs, which start at 6:15 p.m., are held on Wednesdays at the West Thompson Dam Entrance on Ravenelle Road. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. The Fun Run or walk is free and is open to everyone. Eastford - Parade
EASTFORD --- The Eastford Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Eastford Elementary School at 9:30 a.m. Immediately following the parade, a Memorial Day  Ceremony will be held at the Ivy Glenn Memorial. Memorial services and military salutes will be held at the General Lyon Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. and the Grove Cemetery at 9 a.m. All welcome.

Pomfret - Parade
ABINGTON --- The Town of Pomfret will be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. from the Abington Congregational Church, proceeding north down Rt. 97/Hampton Road, turning west onto Rt. 44 and ending at the Abington Cemetery where a wreath will be placed and observances take place.  This year also commemorates Pomfret’s 300th Anniversary celebration.

Putnam - Parade
PUTNAM --- The town’s Memorial Day observance will take place with the parade stepping off at 10 a.m. and concluding with a memorial program at Rotary Park. Check with WINY Radio the morning of the parade in case of inclement weather. To accommodate older and disabled veterans, who wish to be in the parade, transportation will be available by calling the VFW at 860-928-9897.

Trail Days
THOMPSON --- The Thompson Trails Committee and Thompson Recreation will host a Connecticut Trails Day Hike from 9 to 11 a.m., rain or shine, starting from the gazebo in Riverside Park. Easy 3.2 mile walk is on flat, handicap-accessible surface wandering through a historic mill village. Free. All welcome. Leashed dogs also welcome. 923-944.

Open House
POMFRET --- The Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp Open House for kids camp will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. June 1 and June 2 at 326 Taft Pond Road. From 1:30 to 2 p.m. June 1 there will be an informational Parent Panel on the benefits of Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp for kids.

Breakfast
DANIELSON --- The United Methodist Church will hold a breakfast extravaganza from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the church on Spring Street. $8, adults; $5 for kids under 12.
