POMFRET — The Pomfret 300 Committee and the Pomfret Sr. Advocate Commission will present “An Evening in the 19th Century” Sept. 7 at the Pomfret Senior Center on Rt.44. A catered dinner at 6 p.m. will serve foods of the Civil War era, including ham, biscuits, hard tack, and corn pudding.  Connecticut State Senator Donald E. Williams Jr. will provide an introduction, giving context to the evening’s programs.  
At 7 p.m. guests will take part in a recreation of An Anti-slavery Debate that is led by an Abolitionist and a plantation owner portrayed by Historic New England’s Roseland Cottage Education staff.  G. Leslie Sweetnam, Woodstock, will present The Civil War Union Soldier, a first-person interpretation, at 8 p.m.
