POMFRET — The Windham Tolland 4-H camp project “Heart of Our Camp” Lodge, a renovation at the outdoor center, began phase one with a recent groundbreaking. The first drawings for the renovation project were done in 2003.  Fund-raising efforts have been ongoing since then, helped immensely by a $500,000 grant from the CT State Legislature and a bequest from the estate of Warren Stone in 2012. Since then almost 200 contributors have come forward to support this much needed update to the 60-year old lodge.

Phase One construction will be completed by April 2014 and includes site work preparation, installation of tanks for the new sprinkler system,  the addition of new front porch and new entrance doors to the lodge.  It is anticipated that we will be able to proceed with phase two of the renovation project when camp closes next August for a whole new look to greet campers in the summer of 2015.
