DAYVILLE — Employees at the Frito Lay distribution and manufacturing plant in Dayville present Gene Michael Deary, one of the founding members of the DKH Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, with a check for $1,800 at the plant Dec. 1.
Staff at Frito Lay raised the money for the donation through collections and a series of fund-raising events, including a Pink Day, that were held throughout October and spearheaded by the plant’s Woman’s Inclusion Network.
The cancer fund, just recently renamed to the Northeast Connecticut Cancer Fund of DKH, provides financial assistance for cancer screening and treatment for residents of northeastern Connecticut in need.
The fund is administered by Day Kimball Healthcare and provides assistance to more than 200 local residents each year.
