N. GROSVENORDALE — St. Joseph School celebrated a “grand” day Sept. 8 by commemorating National Grandparents Day and by celebrating the dedication of its new Bishop Vincent Hines Learning Center.
The school celebrated all “Grandparents and Grand Friends” at its kickoff breakfast fund-raiser.
After the feast the school dedicated its new learning center, sponsored by Spirol International Corp. of Dayville through its Spirol Charitable Foundation. That company awarded a $30,000 grant to St. Joseph School in July as part of its corporate foundation charitable giving program. The new learning center will provide additional educational support for students at all levels through a dedicated learning specialist in the person of Nancy Beeman.
Principal David Sizemore and Very Reverend David Choquette and guests joined in the recognition and blessing the new 900-square foot learning center at the Pre-K to Grade 8 Catholic parochial school.
The new learning center is dedicated to Bishop Vincent Hines, who was instrumental in developing and enhancing catholic education in the Norwich Diocese.
