2 health centers get
federal grants
Two eastern Connecticut health centers last week received two federal grants totaling $129,195 to aid in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Congressman Joe Courtney announced the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services  granted  $65,444  to Generations Family Health Center Inc. in Willimantic and $63,751 to United Community Health Center, Inc. in Norwich.
“Our health care professionals are working on the front lines of this pandemic in health centers and clinics – they’re keeping our eastern Connecticut communities safe and healthy, and we’ve got to keep working together to support them,” said Courtney. “This federal grant program was authorized as part of Congress’s first bipartisan COVID-19 aid package, and these grant awards are another resource in our health centers’ toolbox – it allows them to immediately secure more resources to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19, from promoting prevention practices to training staff, to purchasing more Personal Protective Equipment like N95 respirators and hand sanitizer for health care personnel.”
The funds were dispersed through the HHS Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
