Officer promoted
to sergeant
PUTNAM — Putnam Police Chief Chris Ferace announced the promotion of police officer Kevin Cardonne to the rank of sergeant Aug. 9.
In the ceremony Cardonne’s new sergeant’s badge was pinned by his wife Kim and he took the oath of his new position.
Sergeant Cardonne joined the Putnam Police Department in March of 2020 after working more than 21-years of combined service with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police Department and the Carlisle, Mass., Police Department. He is a certified Crisis Intervention Officer, specially trained in dealing with people in mental health crisis. He is a certified Background Investigator and certified ATV Instructor. He has attended numerous specialized training courses and brings a wealth of experience to his new supervisory position. He will be assigned as a patrol supervisor on the evening shift.
Cardonne holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in in criminal justice from UMass-Lowell.
He was selected for promotion after completing a series of promotional examinations conducted by the Law Enforcement Council of Eastern CT.
He lives in Plainfield with his wife and has four adult daughters.
