'Wee Wander
Walks' set for
next year
The Wyndham Land Trust invites all to attend the four seasonal Wee Wanders set for 2022.
Saturday, February 19, 2022, 10-11:30 a.m. Animal Tracking at the Robbins Preserve-Thompson.
Take a walk to the Five Mile River while looking for animal tracks.
Directions: Quaddick Town Farm Rd to Fred Davis Rd. Park at gate.
Saturday, May 7, 2022, 10-11:30 am. Salamander Search at the 3 B’s- Pomfret.
Sticking to the trail, visit a nice vernal pool. Chances will be good to spot someone looking up from under logs and leaves.
Directions: Wrights Crossing Rd (between Day Rd and Rt. 101, on the curve in the road.) Park cautiously on one side of the road only.
Saturday, August 6, 2022, 7-8 pm. Bats at Lyon Preserve- Pomfret
Bats do great work in nature, and twilight is a perfect time to see them flying and catching mosquitoes.
Directions: Rt. 101 to Wrights Crossing Road, as soon as you cross the bridge, take a right onto the Lyon Preserve. Plenty of parking in the lot.
Saturday, October 1, 2022, 10-11:30 am. Leaves & Mushrooms at Rapoport Preserve-Woodstock.
Celebrate fall and see how many leaves and mushrooms can be identified along Taylor Brook.
Directions: Joy Rd to Calkins Rd. This is a narrow road, so drive slowly and cautiously to the end and park respectfully.
