swear in a new
police officer
PUTNAM — Shawn M. Grayson was sworn in as 16th officer in the Putnam Police Department.
Police Chief Christopher D. Ferace said Grayson is filling one existing vacancy. Grayson started the 375th Training Session of the POSTC Connecticut Police Academy June 3 and will train for approximately 26 weeks with a projected graduation date of mid-December. Upon graduation from the Police Academy, Grayson will undergo a minimum of an additional 400 hours of Field Training towards acquiring his Police Officer Certification. After the successful completion of the Field Training program, he will be assigned to the department’s Patrol Division.
Grayson, 23, is a resident of Brooklyn and is a graduate of Killingly High School. In 2021, he graduated from Norwich University having earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. Grayson was also 4-year member of the ROTC Program. Officer Grayson currently serves as a Second Lieutenant in the Connecticut Army National Guard, HHC 192nd Military Police Battalion.
