FRANKLIN --- Step back into history with The Last Green Valley’s next Acorn Adventure, School Day Fun, 10 a.m. Co-hosted with the Ashbel Woodward Museum, we’ll visit Franklin’s one-room school house on Kahn Road. All “Acorns” will have to participate in five different games and activities just like the children of yesteryear. Park in the grassy area indicated by the Acorn Adventure signs. The one room school house does not have an address, however, 22 Kahn Road is a neighboring property. Acorn Adventures are a series of free programs for children of all ages. Acorn Adventure
FRANKLIN --- The Last Green Valley will present a “Mars Party: at 8 p.m.  at Ayer Farm, 44 Ayer Road. Join TLGV Ranger and NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoff McLean and Rangers Kim McLean and Steve Ayer on the Ayer’s farm for a twice-in-60,000-year event when Mars will be almost at its closest point to Earth. Also starring will be Jupiter and Saturn. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit upon the Ayer's hay field. The moon will rise about 9:30 and we can examine craters along the terminus where they look 3-D in telescopes. Bring binoculars if you have them - or even a telescope. This is a family-friendly event. No pets. Service animals are permitted. Please arrive by 8 p.m. If arriving later please turn off headlights. PUTNAM — Jessica Reed was named Putnam Bank’s Employee of the Month for June. Reed began her career with the bank in December 2000. She left in 2008 to start a family, and returned to the bank in July 2012. Jessica currently serves as Online Banking specialist and marketing associate.

Jessica is involved in community events including: the Putnam Elementary School Community Reading Day, Northeast Opportunities for Wellness Road Race & Walk, QVCC Tackle the Trail, and The Thompson Turkey Trot. She assists the Putnam Bank Pep Squad with team building events, and is an active member of the East Woodstock Congregational Church.  Jessica enjoys knitting, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their children, Noelia and Anthony.

DANIELSON — The Arc Quinebaug Valley announced that Putnam Bank has provided a $1,000 grant donation to help purchase Chromebooks for an Electronic Record System that The Arc will be implementing at the agency within the year.
This system will record documentation services for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and will provide a comprehensive solution for the planning, documentation, reporting, communication and billing needs of the organization.
“Putnam Bank has been a continued supporter of our agency for many years, and we feel blessed to have their business stand beside us in our mission to support those with disabilities in our community!” said Sue Desrosiers, executive director of The Arc Quinebaug Valley.
