Day is Sept. 23
POMFRET — Positively Pomfret Day takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Pomfret Recreation Park on Hampton Road (Rt. 97).
It includes: huge inflatables, lots of games, contests, live music, craft vendors, demonstrations and live music with the Old Fiddlers Club of Rhode Island.
The cash cube will be back along with the Wheel of Fortune, Plinko and the Diaper Derby. Do you have a crawling baby? The Diaper Derby starts at 11:15 at in front of the Pavilion.

The Last Green Valley's Tastes of the Valley is its signature fund- raising event, and with a sold-out crowd, more than  $30,000 was raised  for Last Green Valley programs.
Local farms and orchards were showcased by pairing products grown, raised and created in The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor with top-notch, local restaurant chefs. This year’s new twist, a sit-down dinner featuring special guest “Farmers at your Table” was a rousing success!  
The Last Green Valley thanked the many people and business partners, starting with The Publick House.

THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run is  on Wednesdays through Sept. 13. It will be held at the West Thompson Dam Entrance on Ravenelle Road. WOODSTOCK --- Victorian Cane Fighting and Suffragette Parasol Defense demonstrations will be featured at Roseland Cottage’s Victorian Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Rt. 169. There will also be Vintage baseball, fortune-telling, a costume exhibit, music furnished by barbershop quartet, North Street, and a Civil War encampment.   Costumed guides will assist those who want to have their photo taken in the house. $10 and includes house tours and all demonstrations and activities.  Tea, served in the garden at 3:30, requires an additional fee and reservations.  860 928-4074. 
 
Revival Tent Meeting
S. WOODSTOCK --- The South Woodstock Baptist Church will present a revival tent meeting at 6 p.m. on the front lawn. Includes guest preacher, special music and celebration of 225 years of the church.
 
Survivors Day

PUTNAM — Dr. Marc Cerrone, Director of Pediatrics for Day Kimball Medical Group’s Pediatric Centers and Medical Director of Day Kimball Hospital’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program, has been voted Best Pediatrician in Norwich Magazine’s Best of Northeastern Connecticut contest for the second year in a row.
Thousands of votes were cast in numerous categories in the magazine’s reader’s choice poll.
Of the honor, Cerrone said, “I feel truly humbled by this recognition from the community and grateful for having had the opportunity to care for children here for the past 18 years. It has been especially poignant this year as I realize the babies I first cared for at birth when I began my career here graduated high school this year, and I feel honored to have been trusted to care for them by the parents of northeastern Connecticut.”
Cerrone has cared for children across northeastern Connecticut for 18 years, having joined the staff of Day Kimball in 1999 after completing his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Cerrone is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at UMass School of Medicine.
In addition to his roles at Day Kimball, Cerrone is also a co-host of The NEW DAY Show on WINY 1350 AM radio alongside Dr. Erica Kesselman; a founding member of HealthQuest, a collaboration among local organizations designed to promote health and wellness in northeastern Connecticut; and a member of the Hale Family YMCA Board of Advisors.
Cerrone was also awarded Humanitarian of the Year by the Putnam Lions Club in 2009 for his international medical mission trips.
