WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Academy will celebrate the beginning of a new initiative, WA Gives Back, at the Palmer Arboretum on April 1 and 2.
More than 150 Woodstock Academy students and employees will come together to help the Arboretum prepare for their Annual Open House later this spring. “Community service is a big part of The Academy and something that I believe is a vital part of our students’ education,” said Social Studies teacher and Initiative leader Sara Dziedzic. “Partnerships with local organizations like the Arboretum only solidify an important part of our mission: to encourage active investment in our community.”
Participants will help with spring clean-up as the Arboretum prepares for their Open House May 7.
“The Arboretum Committee is excited about having so many students and teachers from Woodstock Academy help with our Spring cleanup,” said Committee Chair Bill Brower. “This was a great winter for wind and we have enormous numbers of twigs, branches, and blown-back leaves to clear before mowing season. With so many students, we can also spread mulch and do some pruning, weeding, and removal of the last of the invasive species from the grounds.”
