PUTNAM --- Day Kimball Healthcare’s second annual Deary Memorial Spring Gala & Auction raised more than $16,000 for the Day Kimball Hospital Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, which is $1,000 more than was raised last year. The event occurred on March 13, when nearly 200 attendees dined, danced and bid the evening away.
“It’s emotional to see it all come together,” said Karen and Mark Kaylor, Gala chairpersons. “There is so much energy and fun in the room as we raise money to help cancer patients here in our community.”
This year’s Gala was dedicated to Dot Tercjak who lost her battle with cancer in August of 2009. Tercjak was the first ever Ambassador for the Deary Memorial Road Race & Walk in 1999. She was also highly involved in the community, ran a daycare in Putnam for 35 years and spent time with the Relay for Life. Tercjak’s memory was honored throughout the evening and a special recognition plaque was presented to her two sons.
The Gala was held at the Gold Eagle at the Laurel House and offered dinner and dancing with music from JJ Tunes. Many auction items were donated by local businesses and organizations.
