Putnam and Pomfret/Eastford kicked off their annual Little League tournament last week with every team taking a win and a loss.
The Putnam Red Sox and Pomfret Dodgers split their series with each team winning by the 10-run mercy rule. Nicholas Foucault got Putnam's win while Nathan Tozzi took the loss as his teammates failed to score in a 12-0 game.
The Putnam Pirates had two very close games with the Pomfret Tigers with each team winning in their last at bat. In the second game JonLuc Cournoyer and Josh Allard pitched while Noah Mailloux provided the offense.
The Putnam Dodgers split a pair of games with the Pomfret Red Sox. Jacob Guertin pitched a complete game and got the win with help from Ryan Renshaw who went 3 for 4 in a 5 inning game. Kyle Moore and Cole Andersen provided great defense to preserve the win.
In the final game of the weekend Jack Archambault and Steven Dakai dueled on the mound and at the plate. Jack homered off Steven in the  first inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Steven returned the favor with a home run out of Murphy Park to tie the game in the third. Each pitcher went four innings and turned it over to their bullpens. Pomfret scored again on a sac fly to take the 3-2 win.
