PUTNAM --- Kristen Lescault, RN in the surgical services department, is Day Kimball Hospital’s May Employee of the Month.
“I was shocked to be the employee of the month,” said Lescault. “It is a real honor for me to receive an award like this. I care about what I do and I try to do the best I can every day so I really appreciate the recognition.”
Lescault’s daily responsibilities include pre-operation preparations, working with anesthesiology to keep the patient safe and comfortable and assisting the surgeons and surgical technicians during surgery. Lescault is also a scrub nurse at times which includes setting up instrumentation, assisting the surgeon by handing him/her instruments and maintaining a sterile field for the instruments.
Growing up with the desire to work in the medical field, Lescault graduated from New England Technical School with an associate’s degree in surgical technology and began her career at Day Kimball in 1998 as a surgical technician. While working at Day Kimball, she looked up to the nurses and decided she would like to become one. Nearly a year later, Lescault attended Rhode Island College in pursuit of her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Recently, Lescault donated 11 inches of her hair to the Locks of Love Organization as a way to give back and help out a good cause. Aside from charitable causes, Lescault is an avid runner, enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with her family. She currently lives in Thompson with her husband and two children.
