In action the week before:
Pomfret Eastford Division
The Pete’s Drive-In Team wrapped up a solid week taking two games from in town rival Paquette Electric. In the opener Alec Aleszczyk continued his strong pitching and left the game in the 4th inning with a 11-0 lead. The offensive chage included a monster home run off the score board by Conor Hanlon in the 2nd inning. As Conor rounded the bases 5th grader Zach Gagnon was on deck thinking that some day he will knock one out of the park. As he approched the plate he figured today was as good a day as any and hit his first homer over the fence going back-to-back. Just when it looked like Pete’s would end the game in 4 by mercy rule The Paquette tigers battled back bringing the score to 11-7. Solid defense up the middle by center fielders Austin Dean of the Tigers and Nick Allesandro of the Dodgers kept their teams in the game by snagging every fly ball. Gavin Corey and Ryan Black had some nice hits for the Tigers and Gabe St Jean pitched a very impressive outing in relief for the Tigers.
Paquette once again came out swinging, this time Nate DeLuca blasted a grand slam laser over the fence for his first Little League Home Run. Conor Hanlon pitched a complete game shut out and hit his 3rd dinger of the season over the right field fence. Strong defensive support from Cal Wilcox, Tyler King and Danny Harrington supported the pitching. The game ended after 4 innings 13-0.
Archambault Insurance
On a cold raw Monday evening the Archambault Red Sox defeated the Putnam Pirates 6-4, the game was called because of darkness in the 6th inning as the Pirates staged a comeback but the rules were on the Red Sox side as teh game reverted back to the 5th giving the Pomfret team the victory. On Saturday the Archambault Insurance team beat the pirates 10-8. Dan Whittenburg had 2 hits and 4 RBI. Nick Kowalchik had 2 hits. Jack Archambault pitched 5 innings for the win and Dan Whittenburg pitched the 6th for the save. Solid defense by Tyler Lefebvre and Ben DiIorio and some strong at bats by Connor Picket wore down the Pirates pitching.
