Paul Maurice Breton,

WOODSTOCK — Paul Maurice Breton, 74, of Woodstock, died May 26, 2010, at home. Paul was the husband of Ruth R. Breton. They were married Aug. 1, 1959, in St. Bridget  Catholic Church in Manchester. Paul  was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Auburn, Maine,  son of the late Lucien and Rose (Pomelleau) Breton.
Paul served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s as a helicopter instructor. After his discharge from the Army, he worked construction for 20 years in Connecticut  and 12 years in Alaska.  In the 1980s he opened Breton Tree Farm in Woodstock and operated it for many years. Paul was an avid huntsman, fisherman and outdoorsman, golfer and pool player. He was a member of the American Legion in Putnam, Putnam Elks Lodge, Eastern Connecticut Sportsman’s Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Southbridge. Best known to his friends as Moe, he was a friend to all and would always lend a helping hand to his family and friends.
He leaves his wife Ruth; children, Craig Breton of Eagle River, Alaska, Gary Breton (Jean) of Woodstock, Deborah Trull of Woodstock, Paul P. Breton (Donna)  of Woodstock, Terri Breton of Woodstock; brother, Richard P. Breton; sister, Joline  Breton, both of New Hampshire; grandchildren: James Michael Breton, Michelle Breton, Joseph P. Breton, Kimberly Trull, Charlotte Trull, Jonathan Trull and great-grandchildren: Christiana Breton, Skyler Breton, Kalen Breton, nephew; Michael Folsom, nieces; Lisa and Josie. He was predeceased by his siblings Joseph Breton and Madeline Folsom.

Gertrude Pelletier,

DANIELSON --- Gertrude E. Pelletier, 92, of Killingly Drive, died May 18, 2010 at Regency Heights Nursing Home in Danielson. She was the wife of Fernand Pelletier. They were married Sept. 4, 1948. He died April 5, 1976. 
She was born Jan.19, 1918, in Southbridge, daughter of the late George and Rose (Baron) Despres, She was a communicant of St. James Church, she made her home in Danielson since 1948. As a young woman she enjoyed ice skating and swimming. In her later years she enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the Red Sox and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and UNITE HERE.
She leaves her son; Norman (Carol) Pelletier of Danielson; daughter Susan Pelletier of Danielson; brother John Despres of Charlton, Mass.; sister Helen Scannell of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren: Melissa and Lisa Pelletier, Gary Baker (Chrysse), Michelle Hartwell (Robert), five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by nine siblings.
The Mass of Christian Burial was  May 21 at St. James Church, Danielson with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.

Kenneth J. Bennett Sr.,

THOMPSON —  Kenneth J. Bennett Sr., 76, of New Road, died  May 25, 2010.  He was the husband of the late Jeanne A. Benoit.  Born in 1933 in Putnam, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Olive-Ann (Lapointe) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett worked as a plant operator for Arrow Gas in Millbury, Mass., for 18 years until his retirement in 1995.  He also worked for Webster Ice, Coal & Oil for 10 years.  Mr. Bennett enjoyed crafts and woodworking.
He leaves his son, Kenneth Bennett  Jr. of Danielson; two stepsons, Gary Martinik and John Martinik, both of Thompson; two stepdaughters, Laurie Carignan of Pawcatuck and Melissa Demers of Plainfield; five grandchildren.
Burial was in Munyan Cemetery.  Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.

William H. Taylor Sr.,

PUTNAM — William H. Taylor Sr., 75, of South Main Street, died May 22, 2010, at home.  Born in 1934 in Lancaster, N.H., he was the son of the late Earnest and Stella (Cavanaugh) Taylor.
After serving in the Army during the post-Korean war era, Mr. Taylor worked as a welder at Electric Boat for 19 years.  He was a member of the Boiler Maker’s Union.
William leaves his sons, William H. Taylor Jr. of Putnam and Michael L. Taylor of Rhode Island; daughters, Megan A. Taylor of Putnam and Brenda L. Taylor of Moosup;  three grandchildren Mykeala Taylor, Makenzi Taylor and Mason Henry Renkert.

Jean T. Moore,

PUTNAM --- Jean T. Moore, 85, of Little River Acres died May 25, 2010, at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn.
She was born June 7, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Clifton and Blanche (Neil) Gardiner. Jean retired from Pierce Memorial Baptist Home after many years of service.
She leaves her children, Karen Moore of Gerrardston, W.Va. and Joseph Moore Jr. (Debbie Violette-Moore) of Brooklyn; grandchildren: Evelyn and Tyler Moore and Ramsey Violette; great -grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Bernice Monclova and Ramona Page; brother, Clifton Gardiner.
The Service was May 29 in Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson. Donations: Charity of the donor’s choice.

Richard Chauvin,
Korean war vet
WEBSTER — Richard G. “George” Chauvin,  79, of  Second Island Road, died  May 15, 2010, at home.
He was born in Webster, son of the late Eusebe and Antoinette (Fontaine) Chauvin and lived in Webster all his life. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion where he was a past Post Commander, VFW, DAV, PAV and belonged to many other fraternal organizations.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Irene Marie-Rose (Larniotte) Chauvin and by his darling daughter, Debra I. Chauvin. He leaves two sons, George R. “Rick” Chauvin Jr. of Dudley and Kevin B. Chauvin of Worcester; four daughters, Ann M. Smith of Harrisville, RI, Elaine S. Chauvin, Cathy D. Roy and Denise P. Begin, all of Webster; two sisters, Cecile Wonoski of Woodstock and Blanche Davis of Florida; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A military funeral and Mass was May 20 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster.

Brian D. Bates,

THOMPSON --- Brian D. Bates, 52, of Stawicki Road, died May 11, 2010, in Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Roland L. Bates. He lived in Dudley from 1965 and graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1975. He lived in Webster for six years before moving to Thompson in 1985. Mr. Bates was a quarry blaster for Austin Powder in Sterling. He then owned and operated Bates Transport for seven years. He worked for Rampco Construction, Inc. in Dudley for last seven years.
He leaves his wife of 29 years, Cynthia L. (Celko) Bates; three children, Christie L. Bates and her fiancé John J. Motyka Jr., Lindsey C. Bates and Tyler S. Bates, all of Thompson; his mother, Lorraine C. (Douglass) Bates of Webster.
