Putnam Vision Center Red Sox split a pair of games with the Paquette electric Tigers of Pomfret. Nicholas Foucault and Kristian Burke combined for the win on the mound. Kyle Ciquera took the homerun lead blasting his 5th of the year over the left field fence. Kyle’s younger brother Aiden chipped in with 2 hits and Nathan Tozzi doubled as the Red Sox won 16-6. Jacob Brule made some beautiful catches in centerfield and Timim Alerwracheh hit a double. In the second game both teams went deep into their bullpens in a marathon two and a half hour game. Both managers were trying to save pitchers for the playoffs Monday night so nearly every member of each team got to pitch. The Tigers prevailed 17-15 after 6 innings. Nicholas Foucault hit a grand slam for Putnam and Kristian Burke hit a triple that he stretched into an inside the park home run.
The Police Association Pirates faced off against the Chase Graphics Dodgers. The Dodgers were looking to lock down first place, home field advantage and a first round playoff bye. The Pirates were out to stop them and countered with their ace, Josh Allard. Allard had a two hitter going into the 4th and a 1-0 lead when he was at his pitch limit. Jon Luc Cournoyer scored for the Pirates on an RBI single by Angelo Desalvio. The Dodgers wasted no time after Allard left scoring 7 times in the fourth inning. Jay Hasset and Ryan Renshaw hit back to back homeruns to highlight the inning. Steven Dakai, Shawn Audet, Jeremee Perez and Kyle Loomis all scored as the Dodgers went on to win 9-1. In the second game Jacob Guertin hit the first pitch out of the park to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. Ryan Whitehouse pitched for the Pirates and had the Dodgers baffled for two innings. Only Guertin and Dakai managed hits and both scored. The Pirates’ Brevon Harmon led off with a double and scored. He was followed by Josh Allard who did the same. Jon Luc, Angelo and Scott Davagian all reached base in the first. The Dodgers eventually woke their bats and went on to win 22-7, but not before the Pirates scored 5 more runs. The first by Harmon, then runs by Jacob Straub, Mitchell Barylsi, Alex Morowski and Jakob Prescott. Ryan Whitehouse ended the day 2-2 with a walk and an RBI.
