PUTNAM --- The Putnam-Tourtelotte- Ellis Technical high school last week appointed Shane Szydlo as head coach of the new combined football team.
Putnam High Principal Paul Brenton said coach Szydlo was chosen from a pool of 14 applicants, and emerged as the top candidate after a three-step interview process, which included interviews with PALS representatives, athletic directors from all three schools, the principals of all three schools, and Superintendent of Putnam Schools William Hull. During the interview processes, finalists were also asked to demonstrate instruction of football, and to outline a plan for uniting the students of the three schools into a cohesive unit.
Students from Putnam, Tourtelotte, and Ellis Tech completed an initial meeting to discuss uniforms, logo and team name May 20.
Szydlo will be joining the students, for upcoming meeting do review initial uniform designs and labeling. The Putnam/Tourtelotte/Ellis Technical Co-op anticipates this process being completed for July 1.
A meeting with the parents and students of all three schools, is scheduled for June 22.
