WOODSTOCK --- Each year at Hyde School  the parents of the graduating class generously leave their legacy on the campus by donating a gift. The parents of the class of 2010 were no different.
Over the summer, the 2010 senior parent gift provided the campus with a complete makeover of Westhaver Hall, a boys’ dormitory in the center of campus. The project included the renovation of 47 dorm rooms, 6 large restrooms, 3 lounges, corridors, and stairwells. The dorm now has new energy-efficient lighting, new carpet throughout, new furniture (all solid oak and locally made), and every surface received a new coat of paint.
“The project went very well,” said Facilities Director Gary Giambattista. “Hyde acted as its own general contractor, so my staff played an important role in the project.”
Lavoe Davis, Hyde School’s executive director of Development, shared that this gift continues the tradition of senior parents “leaving the Woodstock campus better than they found it.”
“For the past several years our senior parents have been helping us to upgrade the campus physical plant through their senior parent class gifts, consequently making the campus a much more pleasant place to live and work for faculty and students,” said Davis. “Their generosity will live on as a constant reminder of their gratitude and appreciation for their children’s Hyde education.“
