Omer J. Jolie,
Korean war vet
PUTNAM — Omer J. Jolie, 82 of Sabin Street, died Jan. 6, 2011.
He was the husband of Theresa (Plouffe) Jolie. Born in 1928 in Putnam, he was one of 10 children born to Noe and Beatrice (Lepage) Joly.
Mr. Jolie worked as a maintenance man for the former Jacobs Rubber and later the Lydell Company for 40 years. Omer was a veteran of the Korean war and was a life member of the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523. He was also a member of the Putnam Seniors. He enjoyed traveling, painting and working around his house.
In addition to his wife, Omer leaves his son, Brian Jolie of South Beach, Org.; daughter, Cathy Fleming of Putnam; brother, Armand Jolly of Pomfret; grandchildren, Trista Jolie, Shawn Jolie, Amanda Jolie, Ryan Bellerose, and Thomas Fleming.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 10 in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale, with burial with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Dayville. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.
Bonita E. Moore,

WOODSTOCK VALLEY — Bonita E. Moore, 66, of Red Cedar Road, died Jan. 9, 2011, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was the wife of Eric R. Moore. They were married in 1966 at Our Lady of Pompeii in E. Haven.
She was born Sept. 19, 1944, in New Haven, daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Pochodowicz. She was employed at Numa Tool Company in Thompson for over 24 years as payroll manager and bookkeeper. She retired in 2010 due to poor health. She had made her home in Woodstock Valley for 40 years. Bonita enjoyed working with ceramics, cooking and fishing with her husband.
She leaves her husband Eric; children: Christin Silva of N. Scituate, R.I., and Woody Moore of Pawtucket, R.I.; siblings, Michael Pochodowicz of Virginia, Paul Pochodowicz of E. Haven, Barbara Bachelor of Orlando, Fla.; granddaughter, Ashleigh Lefebvre.
Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 15 with a Prayer Service at 2 at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Donations: American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation.
Kathryn A. Keller,

DAYVILLE — Kathryn (Lavallee) Keller, 61, of Ledge Road, died Jan. 4, 2011, in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph G. Keller Jr.
Born in 1949 in Providence, she was the daughter of Sarah (Hargraves) Bonner of Putnam, and the late Francis Lavallee.
Mrs. Keller was a homemaker who enjoyed karaoke and dancing with her husband whom she was very supportive.
She leaves her son, Rene St. Onge (Tammy) of Longmont, Colo.; daughters, Anne Vaida (Andy) of Aberdeen, Md.and Tammie Jacobson (Michael) of Hampton; three brothers; six sisters, 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Raymond Columbia,

BENNETT, N.C. — Raymond Rudolph Columbia, 91, of Highway 22/42, died Jan. 8, 2011, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
He was a native of Windham County, was a retired welder, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the local chapter of the VFW.
He leaves his wife, Edith Whittemore Columbia; daughter, Judith Ann Manville of Vero Beach, Fla., Gloria R. Breton, W. Willington; son, Gary R. Columbia of Bennett; sister, Viola Trudeau, Putnam; brother, Richard Columbia of Putnam; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Warren P. McHugh,

PUTNAM — Warren P. McHugh, 79, of Sabin Street, died Jan. 5, 2011. Born in 1931 in Chelmsford, Mass., he was the son of the late Peter and Rachel (Clark) McHugh.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Lowell Tech, and his master’s degree from the University of Virginia. He was the owner of a textile and manufacturing business for many years.
Warren was a big sports aficionado. He played football in high school and college. He loved basketball, hockey, and baseball as well.
He leaves his daughter, Sara Simpson (Christopher) of Foxboro, Mass.; brothers, Billy McHugh (Mary) of Florida, Bernard (Marguerite) of Florida; sisters, Jean McHugh Horgan of Pikesville, Tenn., Alice Wooster (Harry), of Michigan; three grandchildren, Michael, Maderyn, and Evelyn.

Ann Lengyel,

GLASTONBURY — Ann Lengyel, 95, of Glastonbury, previously of Pomfret, died Jan. 7, 2011, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Major Joseph W. Lengyel. Born March 25, 1915, in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Augusta Mac Taggart, she attended Laurelton Hall, graduated from Milford High School, and continued her education at Albertus Magnus College.
Her career encompassed work with the Securities & Exchange Commission, Walker Architect Associates and the Eastford school system. Ann had been a resident of Pomfret and a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church since 1960 where she was a dedicated volunteer to schools, church, community and supporter of the Senior Citizens Group.
In 2004, she moved to Glastonbury to be closer to her family.
She leaves her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and William Mencel of Glastonbury, Cheryl and Dennis Dworman of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; grandchildren, Katherine (Mencel) Beben (Philip) of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Joseph Mencel (Hanna) of Bowling Green, Ky., Michael Dworman of Seattle, Wash., and Lindsay Dworman of Austin, Texas; and great-grandsons, Noah and Ezra Beben; sister, Mary Keane of Stratford. She was predeceased by her siblings, August (Mac), Josephine, Charles, Andrew and Isabel.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 11 at Most Holy Trinity Church, with graveside services in Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Beatrice Boutin,

PUTNAM — Beatrice E. Boutin, 91, of Ballou Street, died Dec. 24, 2010, at Day Kimball Hospital. She was the widow of Raymond J. Boutin. Born and raised in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva (Rasicot) Duff.
She lived in Putnam for many years. Mrs. Boutin was an inspector for Belding Heminway in Putnam for 18 years before retiring. She and her husband moved to Lincoln, N.H., where they spent their retirement years.
She leaves her children, Barbara Labonte of Putnam, Richard Boutin (Jeannette) of Van Buren, AK, Gerald Boutin of Calis, Maine, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings Arthur, Paul, Raymond and Leonard Duff, Rita Maynard and Aurice Beaupre.
The Funeral was private.
John T. Kempes,

DAYVILLE, John Thomas Kempes, 75, of North Main Street, died Dec. 30, 2010, at home. He was born April 2, 1935, in Manchester, son of the late John George and Marjorie (Stanfield) Kempes.
He was the husband of Nancy (Milhomme) Kempes; they were married May 12, 1990. Mr. Kempes served in the Army National Guard for 13 years and worked at Rogers Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He was a graduate of Putnam Trade School.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Nicole Belt (Josh) of Brooklyn, Felicia Johnson (Keith) of Morrisville, N.C., and Shawn Smith (Barbara) of Oxford, Penn.; twin sister Joan Robbins of Dayville; and granddaughter Natasha Morgan Belt. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson.
William G. LaFleur,
WWII vet
PLAINFIELD — William Gerard LaFleur, 83, died Dec. 27, 2010, at home.
Mr. LaFleur, or Gerry, as he was known, was the son of Felix and Leda (Martel) LaFleur of Thompson.
The youngest of six brothers who served in the military during WWII, Gerry began his military service in the Merchant Marine at the age of 16, transferring to the U.S. Navy as soon as he reached the minimum age of 17. He served in the Pacific theater during the war and upon its conclusion transferred to the U.S. Army. Mr. LaFleur served a total of 24 years of decorated service, a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, he retired honorably in 1967.
After retiring from the U.S. Army, Gerry settled in Plainfield where he worked at Interroyal Corporation, Electric Boat and Kaman Aerospace as a tool and die maker and model maker. His passions were gardening, fishing and family.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Ruby (Wong) Lafleur; two children, William G. LaFleur Jr. and Jacqueline LaFleur, all of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Kim Williams, Tricia Howard and Barry LaFleur, and great-grandchildren; sister, Terry Rice (James) of N. Grosvenordale.
