WOODSTOCK — Gregory H. Adams, 57, of Woodstock, died Feb. 19, 2011, at Day Kimball Hospital.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was predeceased by his wife Sharon (Clark) Adams in 2009 . He leaves his sister Cynthia Cotillo (Antonio) of Woodstock, with whom he lived; brothers, Sidney W. Adams and Jeffrey E. Adams of Okeechobee, Fla.; sister, Loretta Jean Ford of Florida; aunt and uncle Charles and Florence Fisher of Fort Meyers, Fla. His father Earl Adams died in 1994 and his mother Luella Adams died in 2005 in Woodstock.

Thomas E. Whitney,

MECHANICSVILLE — Thomas E. Whitney, 86, of Riverside Drive, died Feb. 22, 2011, at  Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of the late Irene M. (Boisclair) Whitney. She died in 1990.
He was born March 29, 1924, in Putnam, son of George and Ruby (Clarke) Whitney. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for over 20 years. He was a WWII veteran, with the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater.
He has made his home in the Mechanicsville section of Thompson most of his life.  He was an avid NASCAR auto racing fan, enjoyed walking and dinners at his daughter Shirley’s home.  He was a member of the Putnam VFW post 1523.
He leaves his children, Shirley Hamel (Edward) of Wauregan, Nancy Wojcik and her companion Bill of Dayville, Alan Whitney (Linda) of Putnam; sister, Aleta Whitney of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Michael, Kerry, Tanya, Dawn Marie, Christine and Dillon and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson Thomas and a sister June.
Services will be held later in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Rebecca McOsker,

CHEPACHET — Rebecca McOsker, 68, of Chepachet, died Feb. 23, 2011. She was born on Dec. 25, 1942, in Providence to the late Herbert and Lillian (Boudreau) Amend.
She graduated from Coventry High School and attended Johnson and Wales Business School. On Sept. 15, 1962, she married Walter Lewis McOsker Jr., her husband of 48 years. He died Dec. 5, 2010.
She made her career as a housekeeper supervisor for nursing homes in Ohio and retired in 2009.
She leaves her children, Brian K. McOsker of Marienville, Penn., and his children:  Kyle, Ryan, and Keegan; Michael P. McOsker (Joyce) of Brooklyn and their  children Danielle, Amy and Olivia; Kimberely K. Romeo (Gianni) of Sutton, Mass and their children Alessia, Natalia and Santino. She was predeceased by her brother Michael D. Amend.

Mildred Seifert,

ABINGTON — Mildred Seifert, 90, formerly of Abington, died Feb. 23, 2011, at Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Center, Wilmington, Mass. She was the wife of the late Robert Seifert. He died Nov. 13, 1993.
She was born April 1, 1920 in Mansfield, daughter of Frank and Gladys (Hall) Paine.  Mildred made her home in the Abington section of Pomfret most of her life, moving to Wilmington in 2007. She was a long-time member of the Abington Congregational Church and the Grange. She enjoyed reading, cooking and working in her yard.
She leaves her daughter Sherry Jones of Reading, Mass.; granddaughter Megan Jones of Reading; granddaughters Lori Coleman (Jim) of Burlington, Mass., Linda Johnson (Mike) of Hollis, N.H.; siblings Ruth Seifert of Pomfret, Emma Ellsworth of Abington, Lois Molnar of Ashford; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Howard, Frank, Maurice, Gladys and Oliver and a son-in-law Dick Jones.

Reino Asikainen Jr.,

POMFRET CENTER — Reino T. (Ray) Asikainen Jr. 86, of Deerfield Road, died Feb. 26, 2011, at Regency Heights in Killingly. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Swanson) Asikainen.
 He was born April 28, 1924, in Foster, R.I., son of the late Reino T. and Ella E. (Ericsson) Asikainen Sr. He came with his family in 1933 and made their home in E. Thompson. He made his home in Thompson/ Pomfret area most of his life, spending 14 years in Conway and Gilford, N.H.., returning to Pomfret in 2004.
He was a graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, NCB4, Algiers, North Africa in WWII and Korean wars. He worked at Pratt and Whitney and retired from CEM Corp in Dayville in 1989, working in Quality Control. He was a member of the VFW Post 11557 in Conway.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Dorothy L. Asikainen; two sons, Edward E. (Sandra) Asikainen of Coventry, Carl W. (Dr. Samantha) Asikainen of Eastford; four daughters, Karen E. Carpenter of Portland, Maine, Joan L. Asikainen of Portsmouth, N.H., Susan L. (John) Clough of Gilford, N.H., Donna L. Lehtonen of Port Orchard, Wash.; a
brother-in-law, Rolf and Irene Swanson of Thompson; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Lea E. Asikainen in 1990.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. March 5 at  Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, with burial in the spring with military honors in E. Thompson Cemetery. Donations: TEEG, P.O. Box 664, 65 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT 06255.

PUTNAM — Eleanor A. Vincent, 68, of Providence Street, died Feb. 25, 2011, at Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of Maurice D. Vincent.
She was born June 21, 1942, in Boston, daughter of the late George J. L. and Barbara (Bennett) Richards. She worked as a home care aide. 
She leaves, in addition to her husband Maurice, a son, David M. Vincent of Putnam, a sister, Jane Danielson of Brooklyn; uncle John and aunt Marguerite Meyer of Maine; two nieces Deborah Maestaz and Robin Zadzieejko.

Bruce Alexander Sr.,

THOMPSON — Bruce R. “The General” Alexander Sr., 72, of Blake Road, died Feb. 25, 2011, at home.
He was born in Webster, son of the late Arthur and Jeannette (Brodeur) Russell.  He was a retired machine operator having worked many years at the former Anchor Glass of Dayville.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the PNA of Dudley, the American Legion in Oxford, Mass. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking.  He was an avid outdoorsmen.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Yvette A. (Cournoyer) Alexander of Thompson; fours sons, Russell Alexander of Eastford, Arthur Alexander of Sterling, Bruce “Spanky” Alexander Jr. of Woodstock and Scott Alexander of Thompson; three daughters, Christine Auger of Danielson, Kelly Alexander of Jewett City and Sherry Muttson of Auburn; a brother, Richard Davidson of N. Grafton, Mass.; a sister, Mary Davidson of Webster; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
