PUTNAM --- The Day Kimball HomeMakers Car Drive will be held from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the WINY Radio parking lot.
The drive will raise money to offset the cost of purchasing a new car for Day Kimball HomeMakers to use for the traveling companion service offered. The goal is to raise $5,000! Sue Esons, director of Day Kimball HomeMakers , along with Carol Tucker, director of operations, will stay locked in the car until a certain amount of money is raised.
The car will help Day Kimball HomeMakers provide high quality and personalized travel companion services for public and private clients throughout northeast Connecticut. When clients utilize this service they are not hiring the car but rather the Companion who will take them to run errands, fill prescriptions, etc. and then back home again safely. The service is mainly used by the elderly as well as those who cannot use other forms of public transportation because they need someone to assist them in and out of the home, stores, medical appointments, church, visiting spouses in nursing homes and more.
