Cecelia Navarro,

PUTNAM — Cecelia M. Navarro, 79, of Hurry Hill Road, died March 14, 2011, at Day Kimball Hospital. She was born July 7, 1931, in Hillsborough, N.H., daughter of the late Charles and Gaynor (Wardenski) Kulbacki.
Wife of the late David Navarro, he died April 11, 2006, and her first husband Norman LaPrade, he died in 1968.
She made her home in Putnam for the last 36 years. She had a great love for flowers and caring for her garden. She was a communicant of St Mary Church of the Visitation and a former member of St Anne’s Church. She enjoyed cooking. 
She leaves her children, Norman LaPrade (Pauline) of Thompson, Linda Boulet (Robert) of Mystic and Tricia Kaliszewski (Peter) of Putnam; grandchildren Heather Hayes (Todd), Dean, Brian and Zoe, a great-grandson Mason Hayes; and a sister in New Hampshire.   
The Funeral Prayer Service was March 18 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Kim M. Lewis,

WOODSTOCK — Kim M. Lewis, 52, of Cornfield Point, died March 18, 2011, at home.
She was the daughter of Mary (Smith) Lewis of Rhode Island and the late George F. Lewis Sr. and was born June 18, 1958, in Putnam.
Kim worked for Small Business Insurance in Worcester for the last 10 years and had previously worked for Commerce Insurance in Webster. She was a member of the Putnam Baptist Church. Kim’s son Derek was her life.
Kim leaves, in addition to her son Derek Lewis of Woodstock, her brother George Lewis (Cherrie) of Hampton; brother-in-law Normand Perron of Putnam; nephews Nick Perron, Tyler Lewis, Ryan Lewis; nieces Tara Belleville (Scott), Katie Lewis and a close friend Joyce Gardner of New London. She was predeceased by her sister Bonnie Perron, Jan. 14, 2004.

Donald J. Langlois,

PUTNAM — Donald J. Langlois, 44, of Roosevelt Street, died March 16, 2011, at home. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Ellie” (Riley) Langlois.  Born in 1966 in Putnam, he was the son of Ida (Peloquin) Langlois of Danielson and the late Adelard Langlois.
Mr. Langlois worked as a truck driver for M & M Transportation and previously for RB Green Transportation.  He loved riding his Harley Davidson, and enjoyed camping and many other outdoor activities.
In addition to his wife Ellie, he leaves his sons, Jeffrey Langlois, and Kyle Langlois, both at home; brothers, George Langlois of Webster, Bobby Langlois of Danielson, and David Langlois of Danielson; sisters, Linda Strauss of Danielson, and Nancy Langlois of Brooklyn; and his dog Stubby.
The Funeral Service was March 19 at Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. Donations: His family.

D. Alice Streich,

PUTNAM — D. Alice Streich, 76, of Thurber Road, died  March 12, 2011, in Matulaitis Nursing Home.  She was the wife of Robert L. Streich Sr.
Born in 1934 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Castonguay) Nadeau.
Mrs. Streich worked as a salesperson in the retail industry.  She operated a flea market booth in Florida for many years.  She also worked for Knox Glass, C & M Manufacturing, and American Standard.  She enjoyed making crafts, reading, and cooking.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her son, Bernard Streich of Homosassa, Fla.; her daughter, Donna M. Houle of Brooklyn; her brothers, Ronald Nadeau of Oswego, N.Y., and Roger Nadeau of Niantic; her sisters, Lauraine White of Westbrook, Lillian Gibson of Dayville, Elaine Nadeau of Putnam, and Jeannette Shaw of Putnam; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by sons, Robert L. Streich Jr., and  Bruce Streich.
The Mass of Christian Burial was March 19, in St. Mary Church of the Visitation,  Putnam.  Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.

John ‘Jack’ Cartier,
construction engineer
DANIELSON — John R.” Jack” Cartier, 82 of Danielson, formerly of Woodstock, died March 14, 2011, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the  husband of Jeannette (Phaneuf) Cartier. They were married in 1949. He was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Putnam, son of the late Edmund and Verna (Hilton) Cartier.
John worked in municipal building construction for many years as a construction engineer. He was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, his hobbies included building model airplanes and boats. John and his wife traveled throughout the U.S., Europe and enjoyed many cruises. For several years he was a Ham Radio operator, K1NW1. John had made his home in Woodstock, Brewster on Cape Cod and in Honeymoon Park in Dunedin, Fla., they returned to Connecticut in 2009.
He leaves his wife of 61 years Jeannette of Danielson; children Judith Favreau and (Buzza) of Woodstock Valley, Jeffrey Cartier (Alice) of Harwich, Mass.; a brother Paul Cartier (Betty Ann) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicole Favreau, John Cartier, Jay Goodier (Kim), Jesse Goodier (Kathleen), Brad Favreau (Amy), Danielle Bedard (Matt), Wesley Cartier, Jamie Cartier, four great-grandchildren.

Linda H. Spillers,

BROOKLYN — Linda (Hurst) Spillers died March 12, 2011, of complications from surgery. She was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Salem, W.Va., to Florence Petrilas and Wayne Hurst. She graduated from Weirton High School, Weirton, W. Va., and from West Liberty State College, Wheeling, W.Va.
She married Charles L. Spillers, who died in 2004. The family moved to Branford where she taught school, and later worked as a part-time librarian after moving to North Stonington.
She loved visiting NYC to attend Broadway plays and the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. She enjoyed gardening and tennis
She leaves her son Edward (Christine), and their two children Madison and Thomas of Hopedale, Mass.; her daughter Winifred Fox (Michael), of Pomfret,  and their son Daniel of N. Quincy, Mass.; three sisters, Patricia Ficca of Bloomington, Ill., Helen Chapman of Fall Branch, Tenn., and Constance Dyer of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Herbert W. Leach,
WWII vet
BROOKLYN — Herbert W. Leach, 83 of Tatnic Hill Road, died March 19, 2011, at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home. He was the husband of Shirley (Ladd) Leach. They were married in 2002.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., son of the late Herbert W. and Helen (Urquhart) Leach.  He worked as a manager for Veeder-Root Company for 18 years.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army as a medic.  He was a member of the Federated Church of Christ in Brooklyn, a collector of G-scale trains. Herbert had made his home in Brooklyn for several years, formerly of Woodstock and Vernon. 
He leaves his wife Shirley of Brooklyn; son Mark Douglas Leach (Roxanne) of Hamden; step-children: Marguerite Kissa of Kentucky and Sidney Wing of Oklahoma; sister Beatrice Hastings of Minnesota; grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. March 23 at the Elmwood Cemetery, Bolton and Cemetery roads, Vernon.
