If you think you're lucky enough to get a repeat of this past winter's "winter," think again, according to the Farmers' Almanac.
After record blizzards and cold the previous winter, 2010 to 2011, the winter of 2011-2012 was one of the driest and warmest on record. And record warmth continued into the summer months.
But the coming winter is predicted to return to colder and snowier.
Major storms are predicted in mid-February and mid-March along the eastern half of the U.S.
In a month by month predictions, the Farmers' Almanac, foresees, in November: several light snow storms throughout the month with colder than normal temperatures.
In December a white Christmas is predicted and there are small snow storms throughout the month. The month is punctuated with fair skies and cold temperatures.
January calls for periods of wetness and a heavy snow storm around the third week of the month.
In mid-February a major northeast snowstorm is predicted, along with strong winds. Cold and blustery weather settles in for most of the month.
By March, fair skies return at the beginning of the month. Weather turns unsettled at mid-month and some heavy precipitation is predicted the third week of the month.
In April several rain showers will hit. Toward the end of the month it will turn pleasant and mild.
