POMFRET --- The Connecticut Audubon at Pomfret Center on Day Road will present its first ever concert, "Evidence of Happiness" by Sally Rogers  and Claudia Schmidt at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5.
Between 1981 and 1991, Sally Rogers and Claudia Schmidt made a lot of music together, touring nationally and recording two albums which were much loved throughout the folk community.  For the next 20 years, their paths diverged, Sally’s east to raise a family and teach music, and Claudia’s to a northern island to be an innkeeper and restauranteur.  All through those years, however, their musical connection simmered, and they would find a way to do a few concerts together each year.  The chemistry was always right there.  So it seems only right that, as a new chapter of life unfolds for each of them, they reunite to record a new album and goose up the touring a bit!
Hence you have “Evidence of Happiness”, released last May, featuring originals from both women, a few old favorites, their trademark double dulcimers and soaring harmonies, and a wonderful assortment of musical commentary on life, love, loss, and the state of the world.  Their recordings are a joy to hear, but even better is to hear them together in concert, where both the depth of their friendship and their profound musical connection really get to shine.  You can expect to sing along. They don’t hoard the joy of singing!  And you can be sure that you will carry the celebration and delight with you long after the last note of the evening trails off.
