Pumpkin Fest
With spectacular weather, Putnam's Great Pumpkin Festival was a success. More than 350 visitors came on the train from Rhode Island, according to Putnam Business Association President Karen Osbrey. For the local excursion, there were more than 300. Osbrey said the restaurants were bustling. Harold Foskett and Asa Scranton brought two antique tractors for kids to climb on. She added that next year there are plans to expand the pumpkin carving and pumpkin derby contests.  Loomis Real Estate won first prize in the scarecrow contest while WINY won second with its pirate radio scarecrow.
