Putnam Science Academy will unveil its 2012-2013 edition of Mustang basketball Nov. 15 with its version of Midnight Madness, which they’re calling Mustang Madness.  The one-hour action-packed program will begin at 7:45 p.m. at the PSA gym on Maple Street, said coach Tom Espinosa.  Mustang Madness is free and the public is invited.
The evening will begin with individual introductions of the team, with the players given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a crowd pleasing fashion.  Players and fans will then join together in a three-point shooting contest.  Two members of the team along with two individuals from the crowd will take part in the contest.  The culmination of the evening will be a 12-minute scrimmage with the team being divided evenly into the Red and Black squads.
“This year’s team features a number of talented players who are attracting attention from colleges throughout the country.  Our program has grown significantly since initiating varsity competition six years ago.  We’re extending a warm welcome to the people of Putnam and vicinity to drop by for a fun and exciting program, in what should be a great preview to the season,” said Espinosa.
The popular Colt Foley DJ Services will be on hand to provide music throughout, including sounds for a special “fans dance” contest.  The contest is open to anyone in attendance with the winner being decided by a special panel of judges.  The winner of the dance contest will receive a PSA Mustang hoody sweatshirt.  Everyone in attendance will also be eligible for a special door prize.
Following the basketball portion of the evening, fans are invited to join the team, coaches and school administrators in the cafeteria for a “meet and greet” session and light refreshments.
Members of this year’s Mustang team are Dayshon Smith, Jemal Mosely, Ugur Hortum, Paul Brooks, Mairega Clarke, Joel Angus, Jonte Rutty, Berkan Tuylu, Berkay Turetkun, Burak Eraslan, Yasin Gultekin and Sergen Kumas.  Espinosa’s coaching staff includes Josh Scraba, Dan Gomes, Eric Mauer and Mike Peters.
