DAYVILLE — Local businesses including United Natural Foods, Crabtree & Evelyn and The Baker’s Dozen have helped to make the holidays a bit brighter for teens in the Quiet Corner, through gift donations to United Services, Inc.’s Giving Tree for Teens program.
Each year United Services employees and local supporters work to ensure that all the teens the organization serves have an opportunity to enjoy some holiday cheer by sponsoring a “Giving Tree” for teens who would otherwise not receive a holiday gift.
“We’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of children and families in need of support in recent years,” said John J. Goodman, director of Development and Communications for United Services.  “The support of businesses and the larger community here in northeast Connecticut to meet that need makes all the difference in helping to ensure that every child we serve can enjoy a merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.”
In addition to United Natural Foods’ Helping Hands Committee, employees of Crabtree & Evelyn, and The Baker’s Dozen, students and staff from The Rectory School also contributed gifts and handmade hats to provide a smile and some warmth to children in need that are served by United Services programs.
