Christian Ejiga, a two-year senior at Hyde School-Woodstock, signed a letter of intent May 2 to attend the University of Maine in Orono on a basketball scholarship. Ejiga, who is originally from Lagos, Nigeria, signed his papers in the Fireplace Room on the Woodstock campus with students and faculty in attendance.
Ejiga, a 6-foot, 9-inch 230-pound forward, had an outstanding season, and in 2012 lead the Wolfpack to the NEPSAC Class C Championship. An outstanding competitor, Ejiga averaged more than 16 points and 8 rebounds per game for coach Tom Bragg’s Hyde Wolfpack.
“I’m very excited to see that Christian Ejiga has decided on the University of Maine to further his education and play basketball on the next level,” said Bragg, who also is the school’s assistant dean.
“The university community is getting an outstanding citizen who has a lot of heart and drive to become a better person. On the court he will make an immediate impact by rebounding, hard play, leadership, and intensity like no other. I am proud of the growth Christian has made here at Hyde and I know coach Woodward will help him continue to become a well-rounded young man,” concluded Bragg.
