PUTNAM — Cora Simmons has been named employee of the month for June at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH). She is the lead housekeeper at Day Kimball Hospital.
“Cora is the one and only third shift employee we have in housekeeping,” said Michael Hebert, manager of Simmons joined DKH in January 2004 after five years of working as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) in various nursing homes. Her responsibilities at the hospital include complete patient room cleaning based on established procedures; trash removal and recycling; and accommodating the special needs and requests of patients. Simmons also moves equipment, furniture and supplies to different hospital departments for cleaning and rearrangement purposes.
Simmons was born and raised in Killingly, where she lives with her husband, Donald, and their two children, Melissa and Joshua. She is a licensed nurse’s aide with a Quinebaug Valley Community College certification. Simmons is also an avid bowler.
