On April 23, 25,000 volunteers from Kodiak to Key West will give away half a million free books in more than 6,000 towns and cities across America. World Book Night U. S. (WBN) is an ambitious campaign to give thousands of free, specially-printed paperbacks to light or non-readers.
Kim Flynn/Thompson Library, Deb Sharpe/Bracken Library in Woodstock, Priscilla Colwell/Putnam Public Library and Mary Geragotelis/Scotland Public Library will be handing books out in their respective locations. They will ask people if they are readers first, and if they are not they will be given a copy of the book if they wish to take it. World Book Night takes place on Shakespeare’s birthday.
