In a week filled with softball action the local ladies posted only five victories in the 16 games that were played. Putnam with a pair of victories against one loss enjoyed the best week. Other schools that picked up wins were Ellis Tech and Pomfret School
With Mackenzie Livingston in the circle the Putnam Lady Clippers enjoyed success beating Grasso Tech 12-2 and Prince Tech 21-1 in five innings. Sandwiched between the victories was a 15-5 loss at the hands of Ellis Tech. The Lady Techsters Adrianna Riddick limited Putnam to a mere three hits. Putnam’s Alyssa Peterson suffered the loss for the 6-4 & 4-3 CSC East Clippers.
In its other victory, Ellis Tech pummeled Parish Hill 30-15. Taylor Blanchard almost hit for the cycle for the Eagles as she had a double, triple and home run in the contest. Sandwiched between the wins was a 17-1 loss to Academy of the Holy Family. Ellis Tech is 4-3 overall and in the CSC East.
Plainfield dropped three games is a week that saw them lose 12-1 to Griswold, 6-1 to Fitch and 14-9 to Stonington, dropping the Panthers to 3-3 and 0-1 in the ECC Medium Division. The Tourtellotte Tigers lost their only game of the week as they were beaten by Wheeler 10-1, falling to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the ECC Small Division.
Woodstock Academy dropped to 2-5 as the Lady Centaurs are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. The Acads were beaten by Lyman 9-3, Stonington 13-1 and St. Bernard 8-3. Killingly, which has won only one game this year lost its only contest to East Lyme 8-1, falling to 1-5 on the season.
Pomfret School picked up its fourth win of the season with an 8-5 victory over the Loomis Chaffee School of West Hartford. Cassie Hayward was the winning pitcher for the Lady Griffins. She received offense support from Gena LaBeef who had a triple and Makenna Newkirk who had a double. In its other game of the week, the Griffs lost 10-2 to Suffield to go to 4-1 on the season. Marianapolis suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Westminster 9-0 to go to 5-1.
