Fun Run

W. THOMPSON --- The West Thompson Dam Fun Run has started and will run through Sept. 17 on Wednesdays starting at the West Thompson Dam entrance on Ravenelle Road. Starts at 6:15 p.m. Distance is 3.1 and 1.44 miles. Fun Run or walk is free and open to all. For info: mayer.robert @sbcglobal.net.

‘Seussical Jr.’

DANIELSON --- The Little Theatre on Broad Street and Broad Street Kids will present “Seussical Jr.” at 7 p.m. June 5, 6 and 7 and at 2 p.m. June 8 at the theater on Broad Street. $10 for adults; $8 for seniors and children (2-11). Tickets at: Killingly Community Center or Trink-ett Shoppe and at the door.

Dinner Dance

PUTNAM --- The Congregational Church of Putnam will sponsor a Dinner Dance for April fund-raiser at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks Club. $15 pp; $25 per couple.  Benefits April Botting who perseveres the effects of spina bifida. 860-928-5947.

Dinner Dance

PUTNAM --- The Putnam VFW Post 1523 will present a Summer Splendor dinner dance starting with dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. Dancing is from 7 to 11 p.m. $15.

 

Car Seat Check

PUTNAM --- The Safe Kids Connecticut will be at the Riverview Market Place Pavilion on Kennedy Drive from 1 to 3 p.m. to perform free car seat safety checks. It’s sponsored by the Putnam Elks Lodge and brings together the Putnam Police Department, with Officer Jamie Glaude, Safe Kids Windham County, Kids In Safety Seats-CT, SBM Charitable Foundation, and local hospitals. No appointment needed. Please bring your child and your vehicle to this event.

 

Tag Sale

N. GROSVENORDALE --- The Thompson Town-wide Tag Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the public library parking lot on Riverside Drive. Tag sale map for $1 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on June 7 at library. Rain date June 14. 860-923-9440. 

 

Greek Festival

DANIELSON --- The Greek Festival sponsored by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Water Street will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 7 and from noon to 6 p.m. June 8. Free admission.

 

Trails Day

THOMPSON --- Connecticut Trails Day will be held in Thompson today when Thompson hosts a Trail Day Hike, sponsored by Thompson Trails Committee and Thompson Recreation.  Enjoy a walk to the Tri-State Marker - the place where Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island meet.  See a pre-colonial stone chamber and an arch tunnel and visit the site of the Great Dec. 4, 1891 East Thompson Train Wreck and the Southbridge local turnaround.  The walk is approximately 2 miles of moderate difficulty and runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Fund-raiser

PUTNAM --- Sawmill Pottery in downtown Putnam will host a fund-raiser, "Make a Pendant & Make a Difference," from 1 to 4 p.m.  to benefit the Deary Memorial Cancer Fund. $25. Materials donated by Pace for  a Purpose.  $10 goes directly to Deary Fund. Register: 963-7807.
