WATERFORD — Brian A. Orenstein, CEO of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
Orenstein is already serving as this year’s co-chairman of the United Way 2014 campaign appeal with Wayne J. Burgess, who is chairman of Charter Oak’s Supervisory Committee and president of the Southeastern Connecticut Central Labor Council AFL-CIO. Both Orenstein and Burgess have been actively involved with United Way for many years, and Charter Oak serves as a corporate benefactor of the Gales Ferry-based social services organization.
“United Way is vital to southeastern Connecticut – whether it’s providing food, or finding shelter or offering affordable child care,” said Orenstein. “So I’m very proud to be able to work with this board to really make a difference to those in need across our entire region.”
Charter Oak is also this year’s sponsor of United Way’s 100X100 Challenge, which is asking 100 businesses to donate $100 each to the agency. Charter Oak has pledged to match all new contributions to the 100X100 Challenge, up to $10,000.
