Jason E. Green,
Vietnam vet
PUTNAM — Jason Emery Green, 57, of Church St., died Oct. 7, 2014, at Day Kimball Hospital. Jason was the husband of Denise (Allard) Green. Born in 1957 in Athol, Mass., he was the son of the late Ralph and Verna (Emery) Green.
Mr. Green was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam war. During that time he received a National Defense Service Medal and an expert marksmanship rifle badge. He owned and operated the former “Uncle Norman’s Restaurant” in Putnam, and also worked in construction, although he had been disabled since 1999. He enjoyed bottle digging, drawing, antiques, music, and the Sci-Fi network.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, Ralph Green (Tuesday), and Mathew Green, all of Putnam; his daughter, Cherie Green of Putnam; his brothers, Greg Green of Manchester, Scott Green of Harmony, Maine, Andrew Green of Beverly, Mass., and Eric Green of Lyman, Maine; his sisters, Colette Green of Harrisville, N.H., and Heather Lemay of Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Charles Ruiz, Cullen Mulldune, Natalie Green, Ziva Green, Aryana Lewis, and Margaret Green. He was predeceased by his daughter, Natalie Green, and his sisters, Pamala Mackentire, and Hope Entwisle.
A celebration of Jason’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Elks Lodge in Putnam. Donations: American Cancer Society. Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.
Marie Holowaty
BROOKLYN — Marie J. Holowaty, 57, of Brooklyn, died Oct. 5, 2014, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was born Oct. 21, 1956, daughter of Loretta (Bergeron) and the late Gerard Despatie.
She was married on May 1, 1976, to Richard Holowaty at St. James Church in Danielson. He died in 2007.
Marie worked as a cashier for Foxwoods Resort and Casino, she loved her job. She enjoyed watching boat races with her husband and going to Six Flags with family and friends.
She leaves her mother, Loretta Despatie of Brooklyn; daughters, Charlene Hammond (Josh) of Oxford, Mass., Laura Miller (Dan) of Brooklyn; grandchildren Austin and Connor of Oxford, Mass., and Mackenzie and Daniel Miller of Brooklyn; family and friends, Gloria Luzier and family of Avon, and her best friend Norma Desimas of Norwich.
A Memorial Service was Oct. 14 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson. Donations: Day Kimball Oncology Department or the Deary Memorial Fund.
Ronald D. Moss,
Korean war vet
THOMPSON — Ronald D. Moss, 79, formerly of Sutton, Mass., died Sept. 25, 2014, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after being stricken at home.
Ron was an Army veteran and served two tours of duty in the Korean war. He was still employed full time as a salesman at Courville’s Inc. in Montville. His many interests included hunting, fishing, rebuilding classic cars, watching NASCAR racing, playing golf and anything to do with the Red Sox. He also was an avid reader of Western novels.
He leaves his wife of 28 years, Joyce B. (Adams) Moss; three children, Bonnie Collette and Scott Moss, both of Millbury, and Rebecca Reynolds of Charlton; four brothers, Alan Moss of Florida, Mike Moss of Sutton, Lawrence Moss of Maine and William Moss of Millbury; two sisters: Dolly Basinsky of Grafton, Mass., and Dawn Culver of Georgia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his Boston Terrier Molly.
A Celebration of his life was Sept. 29 at Mulhane Home for Funerals, Millbury, Mass., Burial with military honors was Sept. 30 in Howard Cemetery, Sutton, Mass.
Eleanor Whittenburg
EASTFORD — Eleanor T. Whittenburg, 81, of County Rd., died Oct. 10, 2014, in Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Born in 1933 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Primo) Mayhew.
Mrs. Whittenburg was a co-founder of Whitcraft Corp where she worked as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and doing puzzles.
She leaves her sons, Mickey (Donna) Whittenburg Jr., Terence (Vanessa) Whittenburg, Gary Whittenburg, and Eric (Robin) Whittenburg, all of Eastford; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers, Alphonse and Ronald Mayhew.

DANIELSON — Cecelia Donovan, 88, of Danielson, died Oct. 9, 2014, at Regency Heights in Danielson. Burial was private in Jersey City, N.J., Oct. 14. Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson.
