PUTNAM ó Assistant Principal Jacqueline Vetrovec was named the new principal at Putnam High School after the Board of Education accepted the resignation of principal Joseph Ptaszynski at the end of the current school year. He is retiring from his position.
Her appointment takes effect July 1, 2015. She is currently the assistant principal at Putnam High. Before becoming the assistant principal of Putnam High School, she was a mathematics teacher and mathematics department chairperson at Chariho High School in Wood River Jct., R.I.
She has a bachelorís degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, a masterís degree in business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a sixth-year advanced certificate in education administration from Sacred Heart University. After first working as an engineer, Vetrovec entered teaching in 1999.
Superintendent William Hull said, ìThe entire school system has very mixed emotions. We are sorry to see Mr. Ptaszynski retire. We are all pleased to have had the opportunity to work him. He has done a phenomenal job as the principal of Putnam High School. He is an important factor in the renaissance of Putnam High School and making it a 21st-century learning community. We all wish him well in his retirement. But at the same time, we are also excited to continue to work with Ms. Vetrovec. She has been a valued member of the leadership team. Her integrity, hard-work and dedication to the students of Putnam will only make Putnam High School and even better place.î
