The brainchild of Dan Goggin, Nunsense originated as a greeting card line which was so successful he expanded it into a cabaret show that ran for 38 weeks at Manhattan’s Duplex. Eventually it became a full length musical, opened off Broadway in 1985 and ran for 3672 performances over 10 years.
Nunsense opens when five of the remaining Little Sisters of Hoboken are planning a variety show to raise money to bury the last four sisters who remain unburied in the freezer. Their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God had accidentally killed all the others with tainted vichyssoise. The Mother Superior had a vision to start a greeting card company that paid for the burial of all but the last four. Could a visit from the health inspector be coming?
